Happy Halloween!! I’ve said it several times before, but this is one of my favorite holidays and I always love the opportunity to get creative and dress up as someone or something fun! Now that Nicholas is five, he likes to have input on what he will wear. Of course, this year he picked out one of those cheap Godzilla suits that kind of zaps all the creativity that comes with costumes…..soooo we decided to dress up for the blog for mommy’s vision, and he gets to wear what he wants for trick or treating. Everyone wins!
When trying to decide what to dress up as (I always just consider the three of us since Lee is above the whole dress up thing π) , there’s no rhyme or reason. I just wait to be inspired by something or for an idea to come of something I’d like to recreate. If you know me, you know I am one million percent #TeamBritney and always have been. I relate to her on so many levels (sounds so cheesy, I know, but it’s the truth) so it’s a given that I would be her for Halloween at some point. I found this suit on amazon, threw in my weave and straightened it, and voila! I should have had Nick go as an astronaut for the full Oops effect! π
For Ella, I thought it would fun for her to be another pop queen, and since she loves Lady Gaga, it was perfect. Well, she didn’t seem to think! She cried the entire time she was in her costume, but she still looked so darn cute in it! Since they don’t make Gaga outfits for toddlers, I had to make this one myself (this is what we were going for). Her tights, leotard, and boots are from amazon, and I got the “bubbles” from Michaels. They are just clear plastic ornaments (2.6″ & 3.2″) and I removed the silver hoop on them. I went back and inserted that metal hoop through her leotard and attached the ornament back onto it like it was originally. I tried to hot glue them, but they wouldn’t stick so I have my genius of a husband to thank for the idea that worked (and was actually pretty quick!).
For Nick, it was very easy. I’m not sure how it started, but the last several weeks we were joking about him doing his best Blue Steel, and he started to nail it! I thought Zoolander was the perfect male counterpart to two pop star divas, and luckily he was totally on board! I found his suit on amazon too, and I just used my makeup to give his face the full Darek Zoolander look. When we were taking pictures, he would even have his back facing me and would whip around with those pursed lips! I was cracking up watching him be so into character!!
Lee always makes fun of me for dressing up with the kids on Halloween and trick or treating in costume so I’m planning on being like a regular parent this year and just dress comfy. Nicholas is going as Godzilla, and Ella (by no surprise) is going as Elsa! Her costume is so pretty so I can’t wait for you to see it! Hope y’all have a fun and safe Halloween!!
