We had the best time celebrating Ella turning two last weekend! I always love a good theme for a party, and even though it can get a little stressful getting everything together, the planning process is still always so much fun. Since she is currently on a huge Minnie Mouse kick, I knew that had to be the theme for her party, and she loved all of it! She kept walking around saying “Minnie Mouf! Minnie Mouf!”
I procrastinated a little bit on some of the decorations so I got a lot of things from Amazon (straws, banner, table cloth, gift bags, and ears for the kids), and my mom was great about ordering some things and having them sent up here too. I found her dress on Etsy, and it could not have been more perfect! Her little skirt flopped around every time she danced (which was most of the party), and she just looked so cute. Her invitations, printables, and plates all came from Etsy too, and they really added personal touches to the party which is something I love and think makes it so much more special. I got this shirt for Nicholas to wear and thought it was the perfect way to include him without overdoing it.
For food, we kept it pretty simple. Lee was on call the night before and stayed at the hospital so he wasn’t able to REALLY cook like he wanted to. We had Chick-Fil-A cater (the nuggets and strips never fail) and Lee cooked hot dogs on the grill. That was honestly all we needed for the main food, and it was a hit. I tried a different cake place this year, and I was so happy with them. Lori at Classic Cake was so helpful, and the cake was not only adorable but tasted so good too! I also decided to have a couple of flower arrangements because those always brighten up a space, and Maria at Mum’s The Word is always my go to for these special occasions. She’s so talented and become someone very special in our lives so we love any excuse to see her!
I sometimes tend to get overwhelmed preparing for these parties because I’m a stickler for details and just want it to be enjoyable and memorable for everyone. Even though I was so happy with how everything looked and turned out, I realized what matters the most is what we are there for. Seeing the kids squealing and enjoying themselves, my mom painting all of the kids’ faces, Ella laughing her booty off at her cousins and dancing nonstop…that was what made the day. That and all the people we love the most that came and shared their Saturday with us! We didn’t need all the decor and fancy cake for it to be a great day (still happy we had it all though…haha). It was a fun and special party, and I couldn’t have asked for a better day of celebrating our Ella Marie!
I’m sharing most of the items from her party in the boutique below!
