Happy Wednesday, friends! My girlfriend, Kim, and I recently took a trip to New York City for a girls’ weekend/birthday celebration so I’ve put together a post on what all we did in case you’re heading there soon yourself! We actually didn’t do a ton of exploring around the city because we had to spend some time creating content for the blog, but we did get to see some of the sights and eat at some really great spots that were close to our hotel.

We stayed at The Pearl and it was really nice for what we needed. The location was awesome because it was just a couple of blocks away from Times Square, and there were a couple of restaurants that were literally right outside of the hotel so we were able to walk just a few feet to get to them. That was definitely a nice aspect since it was really cold! The Broadway show Chicago and The Book Of Mormon were directly next door and across the street so this is a great spot to stay if you’re planning on going to either of those shows. We had an outdoor terrace that overlooked the city, and the price was reasonable considering the location.

The first night for dinner we went to Lillie’s, which was next door. It had the coolest atmosphere (it looked like an old church), played great music, and the food was amazing! It was almost too good to be true that it was such a great spot and so close to where we were staying.

On Saturday, we walked down 5th Avenue, did a little shopping, and had fun trying on obnoxious hats in Barneys! Ha! We also took one of those bike carriages because it was cold and we needed to get through several blocks….I’d recommend not ever doing that! We didn’t realize it, but they charge you $6.99 per MINUTE and of course take you the longest route possible. We still had to pay once we got to our destination, which was frustrating, but lesson learned!

For dinner, we stayed in the neighborhood of our hotel and ate at Cielo. From the outside it looks like nothing, but once you walked down the stairs, it was this adorable, quant little italian restuarant that made you feel like you were in Italy. They had the red and white checkered cushions, candles, stone walls, and Frank Sinatra playing in the background. Basically, my husband’s dream! The food was delicious too! I never would have thought to go there when looking for a dinner spot in the city, but it truly was like a hidden gem, and I’m so glad we found it. We finished off the night at Spyglass rooftop bar, which has the most incredible views of the Empire State Building! It’s a trendy spot that I’ve been to a couple of times, and I always enjoy it.

Living so far away from my family and friends really makes me enjoy moments like these. Kimmy was with Lee and I on our FIRST date, so she’s been a special part of my life for a long time, and I am so happy she made the trip up with me to the city. We had the best time! Oh and she froze her tail off and never complained once when helping me shoot these looks…that’s a true friend right there!
