I can’t believe it’s Wears My Style’s first blogiversary! How has it been a year already?! I remember when I started this last year, Ella was only 3 months old, and I just wanted to do something that would allow me to express something I’m passionate about, and something to keep my mind stimulated since I was in total mombie mode with no sleep! I had no idea what I was doing, but I took a leap of faith and went for it. And it has been such a fun journey so far! I have met some amazing women that I have really bonded with and gained a support system I didn’t even know I needed. So many of the people I get to interact with are so excited to uplift and encourage one another, while working hard at their own thing, and it just doesn’t get more Girl Boss than that!
My first blog post was the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (you can read it here), and I remember such an adrenaline rush and thinking “Holy cow this is fun!”. It’s so much work, and there are a lot of behind the scenes that you never even knew took place in order to get the content together and create one single post, but it is so worth it. To see your hard work published, and to have people respond to it is just such an exciting thing. I remember thinking my mom and Lee would be the only people reading it, but it was anything but that. So many people….longtime friends, acquaintances, and most of all NEW people I’ve never met actually care about my opinion, and that has been something that is so special to me. It’s something I will never take for granted either.
I won’t go into a list of “Things I’ve Learned” while blogging because to be honest, I’m still learning every day, and I don’t think that will ever change. There’s always room to grow and learn, and right now I’m a total sponge soaking up everything I can. One of my first goals with blogging was to be accepted into RewardStyle (They are the company behind LikeToKnowit.) They look through your blog and social media channels, and if they feel you qualify they will extend an invitation to join their program. It sounds silly, but you have to work really hard to be accepted into RewardStyle so when they did extend me an invitation, I felt just as excited as I did when I was accepted into nursing school. That invitation, in a way, validated everything I had done up to that point, and let me know I was doing something right (even though I thought I was doing it all wrong!). It has also inspired me to work harder, and do everything I can do be successful at this new ‘job’.
My goal with this blog is to continue to create content that will inform, inspire, and encourage you to always strive to be your best self! Whether that’s finding an outfit that makes you feel pretty or planning a great party that makes you feel accomplished. I still have so much to learn, but I’m having fun figuring things out on this journey, and I am so happy you’re following along with me! Fashion has always been my passion so I love sharing ideas with you, and I love hearing from you! What do you want to see more of this next year? I want to be a source of information that is relevant to you so let me know what you want me to cover! Just don’t ask about my diet because there isn’t one, and I’m the last person you want to be sharing healthy eating tips. Haha!
