Happy Monday! Is it just me, or is it a little annoying when people say that?! Haha! Oh well. That’s the only opener I’ve got for today! Anyway, we got back from our vacation Friday, and we’re finally getting back to our routine, and I’m finally getting a chance to write this post about our trip. We rented a house in Loveladies on Long Beach Island, and we had a great time! This was our first vacation as a family of four, and it was Ella’s first trip to the beach! So of course, the first thing we did when we arrived was head to the beach so we could check out the ocean and the big waves. Nicholas is as pure a Pisces as they come and loves the water so this made his entire day! Our house was gorgeous and even had an air hockey table and a skee ball machine! How cool is that? So even when we weren’t doing a big activity we were still able to have fun in the basement! We spent most of the trip lounging by the pool at our house, and made trips to the beach to feed the sea gulls, build sandcastles, and Lee and I even took a night walk one evening when there was a blood moon. That was really neat to see!
My mom joined us on the trip, and let me tell you….that was the greatest thing since sliced bread! Don’t get me wrong, this vacation was all about our kids, but to have that extra set of hands and the chance for Lee and I to spend some alone time together made the vacation that much more enjoyable. Not to mention, there was a lot of quality time with Nicholas, Ella, and Nina, and to me that was priceless. My mom even slept in bunk beds with Nicholas so that he could sleep on the top bunk! That in itself calls for the Best Nina Award if you ask me.
Between the swimming, playing on the beach, and stuffing our face with delicious seafood, we managed to get in a little family photo session and it was definitely eventful. Actually, that would be an understatement. It was flat out chaos. Mommas of toddlers and annoyed husbands know what I mean! Nicholas only wanted to play in the sand so getting him to look at the camera AND smile was next to impossible. Lee would have rather plucked his eye out with a rusty nail than to take the pictures, and my poor mom was just trying to figure out how to work our camera! Sweet Ella was the only cooperative one ready for her close up. She knows the drill! The pictures below pretty much tell the story of our beach photo session. It just goes to show everything isn’t always perfect, and things don’t always go as planned. But you make the best of it, and the moments my mom caught on camera still make me laugh every time I look at them! Our first family vacation with two kids was a success and so much fun, but it sure feels good to be home. Hope you enjoyed a glimpse into our trip!
